Description
Circa 1876 Danish Medal. MDCCLXXVI obverse. Musante GW-932, Baker-426A var. Copper, Gilt. SP-63 (PCGS).
52.6 mm. 992.7 grains. Brilliant gold surfaces with sharp, satiny devices and robust prooflike reflectivity in the fields that clarifies this was struck on a gilt flan and not plated afterwards. A few faint hairlines are noted in the fields but there are no visible breaks in the lovely surface. A variant that was not listed by Rulau and Fuld or by Musante, though we have handled a couple of examples over the years. This one is particularly attractive and would be a special way to enter this design into a collection.
