Description

1878-S Morgan Silver Dollar. MS-65 DMPL (PCGS).
A lovely example dusted with pale silvery iridescence, through which boldly reflective fields shine powerfully as the surfaces dip into a light. Those surfaces also sport sharp, frosty motifs, and they are expectably smooth for the assigned grade. The 1878-S is the scarcest early date San Francisco Mint Morgan dollar issue, and this is particularly true in the DMPL category. We have handled few examples with this finish that are the equal of this impressive Gem.
PCGS# 97083. NGC ID: 253R.
PCGS Population: 25; 5 finer in this category (MS-66 DMPL finest).
From the Pacific Rim Collection.
