Description
United States Treasury Department Service Medal. Gold. Awarded to Paul A. Volcker in February 1965. Mint State.
40 mm. 50.5 grams, unmarked for metallic content, but XRF tested as 14k fine gold. Obv: Seal of the Treasury Department surrounded by peripheral inscription FOR EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE IN TREASURY DEPARTMENT. Rev: Treasury Department building above inscription AWARDED TO / PAUL A. VOLCKER / FEBRUARY 1965. Light, mottled toning to semi-reflective surfaces. One of the first awards earned by Paul Volcker, after serving with the department from 1962 to 1965 as director of financial analysis and later as the deputy secretary for monetary affairs.
