A gold and enamel eagle measuring 38 mm x 42 mm. 30 grams, excluding hanger, ribbon and spiral gold suspension loop. With pale blue and white ribbon that appears complete including clasp. Gold-winged eagle with white enameled head and tail, green enameled wreath surrounding the head and green enameled laurel branches grasped in its talons. Blue and white enameled society emblems on the eagle's breast and back reading OMNIA RELINQUIT SERVARE REMPUBLICAM (He Leaves Everything to Save the Republic) on one side and SOCIETAS CINCINNATORUM INSTITUTA AD 1783 on the other. The Society of the Cincinnati is the nation's oldest patriotic organization, founded in 1783 by officers of the Continental Army who served together in the American Revolution. This is a most attractive piece in an outstanding state of preservation.
