Description
1889 Inaugural Centennial Thirteen Links Medal. Musante GW-187, Douglas-52A. White Metal. Specimen-64 (PCGS).
54 mm. Intensely reflective and brilliant fields contrast beautifully with the sharply frosted motifs. There are a few light hairlines, but this example is far superior to the usual one seen; the eye appeal is rather stunning. The Chapman brothers published these medals in 1889, in celebration of the centennial anniversary of Washington's inauguration. The obverse bust was famously from an engraved punch accomplished by Charles Cushing Wright, in 1853.
