"1781" (post-1839) General Daniel Morgan, Battle of the Cowpens Medal. Dies by Jean-Jacques Barre, after Dupre. Adams-Bentley 10, Betts-593, Julian MI-7. Bronze. Specimen-58 (PCGS).
56 mm. Rich mahogany-brown bronzing suggests that this is a Philadelphia Mint striking using the dies shipped there from the Paris Mint in 1839. The surfaces are frosty in texture with just a trace of high point friction explaining the PCGS grade. No marks or other blemishes of consequence are seen on this handsome medal.
