AUGUSTUS, 27 B.C.- A.D. 14. Syria, Seleucis and Pieria, Antioch. AR Tetradrachm (14.98 gms), dated year 36 of Actian Era and Year 54 of the Caesarean Era (A.D. 6). NGC Ch VF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 4/5.
RPC-4158; McAlee-187; Prieur-57. Obverse: Laureate head right; Reverse: Fortuna seated right on rocky outcrop, holding palm frond; below, half-length figure of the river-god Orontes swimming right; ςΛ (consular date) above; in right field, ΔΝ (Caesarean Era date) above monogram. Despite some wear, this handsome provincial Tetradrachm displays both a commendable strike and glossy and problem free surfaces. An all around solid example of an Augustus type.
