Undated (ca. 1865) Army of the Cumberland Badge with 5 Battle Bars. Silver. Very Fine.
30 mm x 135 mm, including ribbon. 14.95 grams total weight. Civil War era ladder battle badge with five named battles - ANTIETAM, SHEPHERDSTOWN, FREDERICKSBURG, CHANCELLORVILLE, and GETTYSBURG. Also a Corps badge depicting the acorn within a triangle emblem of the Army of the Cumberland. The Cumberland forces did not participate in all these battles, so it is assumed that the soldier who had this badge made served under more than one command. The top bar of the badge probably at one time displayed the name of the wearer. A unique Civil War badge.
