1876 Children of America Medal. By George Hampden Lovett. Musante GW-902, Baker-415B, HK-115. Copper. Mint State, Corroded.
34.0 mm. 348.1 grains. Generous bright red surface remains, while rich blue and violet toning accents part of both sides. One corrosion spot on the obverse is noted just right of Washington's head. While Musante commented that bronze and copper impressions should be considered the same, they are two distinctive compositions. This is clearly copper, while that offered in the 2019 Historical Society of Pennsylvania sale was bronzed.
