This frosty, fully original, golden-honey example would make a particularly impressive addition to a Liberty Head half eagle collection in the PCGS Set Registry's Everyman category. Just a whisper away from Mint State, both sides retain nearly complete mint luster and universally sharp striking detail. Although generally regarded as a common date in circulated grades, the 1855 is an underrated condition rarity in Mint State, and there is considerable demand for attractive Choice AU examples such as this among astute gold collectors.
