Description

Le Roy, New York. Genesee County Bank. 1840s-50s. $3. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. Proof.

(NY-1195 G8) Plate A. Six POCs. Printed on India paper and mounted to cardstock. Imprint of Danforth, Bald & Co. New York & Philada. Central vignette of farmer plowing with black and white horses. New York Comptroller's seal at left. Portrait of Franklin at left. Agriculture in oval at right. The Genesee County bank was organized in 1839 and remained in business until 1865 when it became the First National Bank of Le Roy (charter #937). We have sold very few proofs on this bank. The only comparable piece was a raw Gem Uncirculated example that brought $2,300 as part of The 52 Collection.

Estimate: $1000.00 - $1500.00
