Plate A. Printed on India paper, mounted on original archive page sheet. Imprint of Underwood, Bald, Spencer & Hufty, Philad./Danforth, Underwood & Co., N. York. Top center, cherubs flank sheaf of wheat. End panels, cameo with 1 center, each corner with ONE. Obligation, '…to the order of the Governor at their Store in Monrovia'. A very rare and historic issuer. The society engraved and printed these notes from the United States for use at the newly formed Republic of Liberia, capitol Monrovia.
