"1792" (ca. 1860) Idler Copy of the Getz "Half Dollar." Musante GW-27, Baker-25K. Silver. MS-64 (PCGS).

33.8 mm. 192.7 grains. Mostly deep gray with soft blue, green and rose iridescence in the strongly prooflike fields. A very original and attractive appearance with just a single tiny edge nick that is just barely noticeable. A popular early coin dealer issue, struck to capitalize on the vibrant market for Washington medals in the years leading up to the Civil War. Especially desirable in silver.
