(1789) George Washington Inaugural Button. LONG LIVE THE PRESIDENT, Closely Spaced GW in Oval. Cobb-5, DeWitt-GW 1789-7. Brass. Very Fine.

With original shank intact. Fairly smooth surfaces exhibit some minor ancient scratches and other anomalies, as well evidence of a light polish which is commonly seen, as these were lovingly cared for objects worn in celebration of George Washington. This one seems to have been worn a long time, and not lost to the elements as many. A spot of shallow verdigris is noted on the back, but the face is not affected. Attractive and always in demand.
