MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Demetrios Poliorketes, 306-283 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (17.05 gms), Tyre Mint, ca. 290-286 B.C. NGC AU, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 4/5.

Pr-3539. In the name and types of Alexander III 'the Great'. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and scepter; monogram in left field; below throne, monogram below strut. A less commonly encountered type from Tyre, this example is strongly struck in the central areas. The pretty surfaces give off light amber highlights with occasional flashes of brilliance.
