ITALY. Lucania. Velia. AR Didrachm (Nomos) (7.20 gms), ca. 300-280 B.C. NGC VF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5. Edge Filing.

HGC-1, 1319; HN Italy-1306; Williams-433 (O214/R305). Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena right; A above; Reverse: Lion standing right; above, pentagram between Φ-I. Some noted edge filing that does not break into the design elements. Covered in a rich dark patination, this well struck example retains beauty and regality with the intriguing design elements.
