MEXICO. Charles IV Silver Mexico City Proclamation Medal, 1789. NGC AU-58.
Grove-C-3a. Weight: 48.20 gms; 46.0mm. By G.A. Gil. Obverse: Bust of Charles IV facing right; Reverse: Coat-of-Arms of Mexico City, eagle behind. Masterfully engraved, this hefty silver medal also offers exceptional presentation, with rich cabinet tone on both sides that is mostly deep gray in the centers with a mixture of blue, red and antiqued copper around the designs. Quite elusive as a type, this is among the finest we have seen.
