"1781" John Eager Howard at Cowpens Medal. Paris Mint Restrike from Original Dies. By Pierre Simon DuVivier. Adams-Bentley 12, Betts-595, Julian MI-9. Bronze. MS-65 BN (NGC).
45 mm. The edge style is not noted on the NGC insert, and the holder obscures the edge, so it is not possible for us to determine the striking period of this piece. The dies are the original ones, however, as confirmed by the patterns of rust on both sides. An exceptional Gem, both sides exhibit smooth, glossy mahogany-brown surfaces that offer exceptional eye appeal. A highly desirable example of this popular Comitia Americana medal, one of the few originals in the series that can be somewhat readily obtained.
