Description

AUSTRALIA. Commonwealth of Australia. 5 Pounds, 1910. P-A77. PMG Very Fine 20.

Superscribed on Bank of Adelaide. An incredibly scarce early Commonwealth of Australia note, as this is the sole example PMG has encapsulated to date. This 5 pound note has the serial numbers, clause and "Australian Note" superscribed on the original Adelaide bank note. Three allegorical figures are seen below the original bank name, with intricate designs seen in the top left & right corners, as well as the bottom left corner. Dark brownish-red undertint makes up the design at center. No design is found on the reverse. These early Australian notes seldom trade hands, and we would not be surprised if our high estimate is met or exceeded.

From the Don Allen Collection.

Estimate: $10000.00-$20000.00
