Description

1903 New Hampshire Society of the Cincinnati 120th Anniversary Medal. Hume-6. Bronze. Extremely Fine.

41 mm, excluding loop and ribbon. Bronze medal commemorating the 120th Anniversary of the founding of the New Hampshire Society of the Cincinnati in 1903 A 1903 report by the Secretary of the New Hampshire Committee gives an account of this medal:
"In commemoration of these meetings of 1783 and in gratitude for the prosperity which has been won by the New Hampshire Society, a medal has been struck and will be today bestowed upon the members present, our honored guests, and the Officers of the General Society, and one will be forwarded to each State Society as a slight token of the regard and esteem in which they are held by the members of this honorable Society. On the obverse of the medal will be noted the design of the heart and hands taken from the ancient diploma. May it ever be that the brethren of the Cincinnati and of this Society in particular be bound heart and hand together in warm feelings of brotherly affection coupled with an earnest desire to promote and cherish the high standards of morality, justice and national honor established by the founders."
The medal was designed by Capt. William Lithgow Willey and was struck by J. F. Newman & Company, of New York. This example is suspended from a length of white-edged pale blue moire ribbon.

Estimate: $400.00
