1787 Fugio Copper. Pointed Rays. Newman 10-G, W-6700. Rarity-5. UNITED STATES, 1/Horizontal 1. VG-10 BN (NGC). CAC.
151.0 grains. An unusually pleasing for the grade example of this challenging Red Book Fugio variety, with smooth original dark brown surfaces and no real distractions or impairments. 1/Horizontal 1 Fugios are scarce overall, and the UNITED STATES reverse version offered here is the rarer of the two die pairings. In addition, many of the limited pool of specimens are plagued by significant environmental damage or other issues, and are rarely decent enough to receive a numerical grade. This handsome coin would make an excellent example in even an advanced collection.
PCGS# 892. NGC ID: 2B8H.
