1788 Vermont Copper. RR-29, Bressett 22-U, W-2220. Rarity-5. Bust Right. Fine-12 (PCGS).
One of the classic Vermont copper rarities, instantly recognizable by the always-present "ski slope" die break on the obverse. This is a noteworthy example of unusually high quality. Two-tone dark chocolate and tan-brown surfaces are just barely microgranular under a glass but have an overall smooth and slightly glossy appearance and don't suffer from any consequential marks. Struck just slightly off center but on a broader than average planchet, the diameter allows for a relatively full amount of detail to be present and adds to the eye appeal. A condition sensitive variety, this is 1 of only 3 examples to have been graded at PCGS for RR-29. A desirable piece for specialists and worthy of a strong bid.
