Fonrobert-5295. Diameter: 64mm; Weight: 86.70 gms. Commemorating the construction of the Citadel of Qala'at Sa'idyya at the mouth of the Nile near Alexandria, this impressive medal shows an aerial plan of the fortifications on the obverse, and features a seven line legend on the reverse. Holed at the top likely for wearing, this example exhibits some pitting and other aspects of roughness. Nevertheless, a VERY RARE medal that is highly desirable no matter the state of preservation.
