Thompson-112 var. (no palmette); HGC-3, 1750e. Obverse: Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon; Reverse: Athena seated left on throne, holding crowning Nike and resting elbow upon shield; torch to inner left; palmette on throne; maeander pattern in exergue. Quite boldly and alluringly struck, this deeply toned piece exhibits just light handling upon the high points, but remains rather elegant and problem-free overall.
