MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Kassander, Regent, 317-305 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (14.26 gms), Amphipolis Mint, ca. 316-311 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 2/5. Test Cut.

Le Rider-pl. 46, 18; SNG ANS-738-46. In the name and types of Philip II. Obverse: Laureate head of Zeus right; Reverse: Youth, holding palm frond, riding horse right; Π below raised foreleg, aphlaston below horse. Well centered and struck, with a pleasing cabinet tone. The noted test cut-- common for the type --occurs across the raised foreleg of the horse.
