Fugio Copper
Set of Unfinished Obverse and Reverse Electrotype Shells for a 1787 Newman 13-X Fugio Copper.
A remarkable item offering a rare glimpse into the electrotype manufacturing process. Includes (2) copper electrotype shells made from an Uncirculated Newman 13-X Fugio. The shells are in an unfinished state prior the excess metal surrounding the coin being cut away. The workmanship and execution of the electrotype impressions are very high quality, the resulting detail quite sharp and surfaces smooth. The patina and overall look and feel suggest these shells date to the electrotyping boom of the 1860s. (Total: 2 items)
