Pine Tree Shilling
1652 Pine Tree Shilling. Small Planchet. Noe-15, Salmon 1-A, W-830. Rarity-5. Very Fine, Saltwater Surfaces.
69.5 grains. Finely granular light silver and medium gray surfaces that offer reasonably good eye appeal for a sea-salvaged coin. The technical grade of this piece is at least Very Fine as there is considerably bold definition where fully struck. A good majority of the central motifs, as well as the legends, are easily visible and both sides are nicely centered on the planchet. Small curved planchet clip at 2 o'clock relative to the obverse, yet no post-strike marks to report. A respectable example of this historic coinage that no doubt had an interesting history. Accompanied by a Nadin-Davis International ticket describing this coin and its provenance to the H.B.M.S. Feversham shipwreck of 1711.
