L&M-459; K-201; KM-Y-73; WS-0629. VERY SCARCE and sought after issue struck the year in which the Pei Yang Arsenal Mint was destroyed during the Boxer Rebellion in 1900. This sharply struck example displays intricate bold design features, well-formed calligraphy and relatively smooth surfaces with slightly subdued luster. The central areas exhibit a soft gray color while the peripheries are a rich slate patina with hints of iridescent tone that pop out when tilted in the light. This wholly original looking and tough to locate survivor offers good eye appeal that is sure to catch the attention of many collectors.
