Ancient Chinese Coins

(t) CHINA. Qing Dynasty. 50 Cash, ND (ca. April 1854-July 1855). Board of Works Mint, New branch. Emperor Wen Zong (Xian Feng). Certified "78" by Zhong Qian Ping Ji Grading Company.

Hartill-22.760; FD-2443. Weight: 33.9 gms. Fou bao. "Xian Feng zhong bao"; Reverse: "Dang wushi". This attractive representative exhibits bold well-defined high relief calligraphy, fairly intact rough natural surface texture and relatively smooth rims with minor evidence of the finishing process. The high points display light brassy tone while the open fields exhibit richer coloration with minor earthen deposits adding to its originality and over-all pleasing appearance. Upon close inspection it becomes apparent that at one point there was an attempt made to remove some of the minor debris amongst the devices to enhance the characters almost not worth mentioning, but was done so for the sake of accuracy.

咸豐重寶 寶源當五十。

重33.9克。缶寶。正面："咸豐重寶"，背面："當五十"。悅目清晰的高浮雕文字，自然粗糙的表面紋理十分完整，邊齒較為平滑，少許打磨痕跡。高點展現淺銅色，底版呈現深色，少許積土更添原汁原味。若近距離觀察，可見一處有嘗試將碎屑清除的痕跡，突顯文字，但不明顯。
