North Carolina
Wilmington, North Carolina. Commercial Bank of Wilmington. 1850s-60s $3. PMG Very Fine 20.
(NC-95 G2b). Imprint of Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson, New-York. Wilmington was an important maritime business center from Colonial times onward. It was a strategic port that the Union finally captured in February 1865. The bank was founded in 1847 and was out of business by 1866. This $3 note is from one of the most handsome issues from North Carolina. PMG notes "Previously Mounted, Minor Repairs." The green tint is vibrant, and the note is a very handsome example for the type.
