Counterstamps

J. ROOP counterstamped three times on an 1803 Draped Bust large cent. Brunk-Unlisted, Rulau-Unlisted. Host coin Good.

This is most likely the stamp of Jacob Roop (1809-1890), a blacksmith working in Dauphin Co., PA, who is listed on the 1860 Federal census. He was active from the 1830s to the 1870s.
