Description

Counterstamps

(EAGLE) / MAKER counterstamped on the obverse and a stray S on an 1826 Matron Head large cent. Brunk-Unlisted, Rulau-Unlisted. Host coin About Good.

Another that is most likely a US government gunsmith mark, such as those used by contractors making weapons for the government (see previous lots). With a bit of research and some time, the punches can surely be matched up to a known gunsmith maker. Perhaps, all of the last three lots were stamped by the same gunsmith!

From the Steve M. Tompkins Collection.

Estimate: $ 175
