(I).M. FAIRCHILD in a box punch on an 1838 Liberty Seated half dime. Brunk-Unlisted, Rulau-Unlisted. Host coin Very Fine, but holed. Plus, a circa 1850s coin silver spoon.
Isaac Maltby Fairchild (1822-1902) operated as a jeweler in Waterloo, NY from about 1850-1895. He was taught by his father Caleb, who was a silversmith, jeweler, and watchmaker also in Waterloo from 1820-1870. Although not listed by Brunk and Rulau, several silversmith web sites show the same stamp, which is also seen on the spoon made by Fairchild included in this lot.
