Liberty Head Double Eagle
1851-O Liberty Head Double Eagle. Winter-1. EF-45 (PCGS).
With the largest mintage in this Southern gold series, the 1851-O (315,000 pieces produced) is the most plentiful New Orleans Mint twenty in an absolute sense. Even so, with the rarity of Mint State examples, many collectors opt for a lightly circulated coin as seen here. Both sides on this medium-gold specimen are lightly worn with boldly defined features. Plenty of satin luster remains as well particularly on the reverse.
PCGS# 8905. NGC ID: 268J.
