1844 James K. Polk Shell Medalet. DeWitt-JP 1844-6. Gilt Brass Shells. Choice Extremely Fine.

25.7 mm. Pierced for suspension. Generous gilding remains in the most protected areas, while the remaining surfaces are light olive-brown. A few tiny flecks of verdigris near the hole. A pleasing example of this scarce early shell, which realized $1,700 in PCAC's auction of August 2016.
