Description

Washingtoniana

"1860" U.S. Mint Cabinet Medal. Musante GW-241, Baker-326A, Julian MT-23. Bronze. MS-65 BN PL (NGC).

59 mm. Here is an outstanding example of this perennially popular Washington type, with both sides richly toned in deep mahogany-brown. The fields are boldly reflective and form a splendid backdrop to satiny, sharply rendered design elements. Virtually blemish free, and a delight to behold. According to Julian (as noted in Musante, 2016), the U.S. Mint struck 202 examples of this type in bronze between 1860 and 1904.

Estimate: $ 500
