61mm. 1445.1 grains. Obv: Bust right of Carlos III, Father of his Country. Rev: Miner receives aid from seated city goddess. A bold strike from a late state of the dies, with crumbling evident through the legends. A few ancient scratches of minor visual significance and trivial losses of gilding on the highest points. Traces of silver toning in the peripheries and a few light deposits in the recesses. As noted in our 2011 offering of this medal, an article published in the MCA Advisory documented an adaptation of this medal for use as an Indian medal in South America, and it was collected by Larry Ness for this association.
