Description

Morgan Silver Dollar
1879-CC Morgan Silver Dollar. Clear CC. Unc Details--Altered Surfaces (PCGS).
Bold cameo-like contrast between frosty design elements and mirror-finish fields provide superior eye appeal for the assigned grade. Minimally toned with blushes of pale champagne-pink iridescence around the peripheries, a lack of sizeable or otherwise individually mentionable marks is also a praiseworthy attribute. A touch of haziness in the fields and a few wispy hairlines explain the PCGS qualifier, although these features are not all that distracting to the unaided eye. Our multiple offerings for such coins in this sale notwithstanding, the 1879-CC is one of the scarcer Carson City Mint Morgan dollars in Mint State, and it is certainly rarer than the lower mintage 1880-CC, 1881-CC and 1885-CC. This is a premium quality coin for the designated grade that is worthy of serious bidder consideration.
PCGS# 7086. NGC ID: 253T.
From the Naples Bay Collection.
Estimate: $2000
