Description

RUSSIA. Tuvinian Arat Republic. Bronze Combat Valor Medal, ND (Instituted June 23, 1944). EXTREMELY FINE.
37 mm (inclusive of suspension loop); 29.83 gms. Galloping cavalryman left, legend above, crossed grain stalks below with "TAP" between; Reverse: blank. Silvered bronze/brass suspension with red ribbon with bronze/brass screw back. Minor encrustation on the obverse and reverse with dark patina in the protected areas. An interesting medal issued for a short time and awarded to Tuvinian officers and soldiers, 69 of which belonged to the Tuvinian cavalry squadron. A neat, interesting and original looking medal from the former USSR with lot of character sure to add depth to the next collection it enters.
