OCTAVIAN & JULIUS CAESAR. AE Sestertius (or Dupondius?) (21.27 gms), Uncertain mint, possibly in southern Italy, 38 B.C. NGC AU, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 4/5. Adjusted Flan.
Cr-535/1; CRI-308; Syd-1335; RPC-1, 620. Obverse: Bare head of Octavian right; Reverse: Wreathed head of Divus Julius Caesar right. A splendid and impressive example of this large bronze, presenting great portraits of the future first emperor of Rome, Octavian--later Augustus, along with the famous dictator, Julius Caesar. Pleasing brown surfaces, with some speckled spots of green.
