1899-O Morgan Silver Dollar. MS-67+ (PCGS). CAC.
Frosty brilliant surfaces provide outstanding visual appeal. This is a sharply struck and virtually pristine New Orleans Mint silver dollar. Prior to the mid 20th century, the 1899-O Morgan was considered a rarity in Uncirculated condition. While 12,290,000 examples were struck, many were placed into storage. A few of these bags were released from the Treasury Building in Washington, D.C. in the 1940s and 1950s, but it wasn't until the 1960s that a large quantity became available from a sealed vault at the Philadelphia Mint. Most survivors are in Mint State, though in higher grades the population falls off precipitously. Premium Superb Gem such as this are exceedingly rare, and the present example is among the finest known to PCGS. Outstanding!
