Provenance:
Bt Baldwin's of St James's, Auction 13, 27 November 2017, lot 514.
One of the most detailed and accomplished of the medals to celebrate Victoria's Golden Jubilee, this piece is recorded by Brown in copper, and as a single specimen in copper-gilt residing in the Royal Collection. Eimer records silver. An example in base metal was offered at a US auction in 2023. The present medal is the only silver example listed on Coin Archives and discussion with the collectors of this series points to the strong possibility that this is the only silver example of the medal in commerce.
