Description

USA, gold Ten Dollars or Eagle, 1911, San Francisco mint, Indian Head left with 13 stars above, date below, LIBERTY on headdress, rev. standing eagle left on fasces, denomination TEN DOLLARS below, mintmark S to lower left, inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA above round, mottos IN GOD WE TRUST left, E PLURIBUS UNUM above right, raised edge of stars, 16.68g (Fr.168; KM.130). Lightly cleaned at some point in its history with some bagmarks, good very fine and rare. We note that the 1911-S had the second lowest mintage of any circulation Indian Head Ten Dollars.

The Latin motto on the reverse translates as "Out of many, one."

Calendar year mintage 51,000.
