PF70 FDI | Elizabeth II 2022 gold proof 2oz City Views Rome

Elizabeth II (1952-2022), gold proof Two Ounces of Two Hundred Pounds, 2022, 2 Ounces of 999.9 fine gold, struck as the second emission of the new City Views series, depicting the city of Rome, crowned bust right, JC initials behind for designer Jody Clark, Latin legend surrounding, ELIZABETH II. D. G. REG. F.D. 200 POUNDS, rev., skilfully adapted from a design by artist Jacques Alphonse Testard, depiction of a panoramic view of Rome as it was in the nineteenth century, 62.42g. Brilliant proof finish, graded by NGC as PF70 First Day of Issue, an impressive and historic piece, accompanied by original Royal Mint presentation lacquered wooden case, black box, outer packaging, leaflet, and certificate of authenticity.

The Latin legend translates as "Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith.”

The new City View series from the Royal Mint celebrates breath-taking views of iconic urban landmarks around the world renowned as cultural marvels. This range pays homage to the historic European Thalers of the 16th-18th centuries, famous for their depictions of elevated views of the beautiful contemporary cityscapes. The second coin in the City Views series focuses on the City of Rome, one of the oldest continuously occupied cities in the world. The Rome City View Coin features a bird-eye view of the city from the Janiculum hill taken from a sketch by Jacques Alphonse Testard in the early 19th century.
