Victoria 1862 gold Sovereign

Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1862, second young filleted head left, W.W. incuse on truncation for designer William Wyon, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, laurel wreath surrounding, emblems below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:, edge milled, 7.97g (Bentley 94; Marsh 45D R3; M.C.E. 523; S.3852D). Toned with a large scratch down the centre of obverse portrait, patches or residual lustre, otherwise very fine.

Calendar year mintage 7,836,413.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
