AU53 | Edward IV gold Angel mm. Pierced Cross

Edward IV, second reign (1471-83), gold Angel, Tower Mint, London, St Michael killing dragon with lance, one foot on dragon, beaded circle surrounding, initial mark pierced cross with pellet at lower right both sides (1477-80), saltire stops with abbreviated Latin legend both sides, EDWARD'x DEIx GRA'x REX AnGL'x Z FRAnCx, rev. ship sailing right, quartered shield upon hull, cross above, E to left, rose to right, PER CRVCEmx TVAxx SALVAx nOSx XPC' REDEmPT', 5.09g (Schneider 465; N.1626; S.2091). Lightly toned with wear to high points, otherwise with a fair portrait of St Michael, very fine, graded by NGC as AU53.
