Description

Australia, Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half Sovereign, 1880, Sydney Mint, young head left, date below, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned, quartered, and garnished shield of arms, with cross of crown touching border denticles; surrounding BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: edge milled, 3.99g (Marsh 464; S.3862E). Very fine example with general circulation wear, possible light cleaning in past.

Calendar Year Mintage 80,000.

The obverse Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the Grace of God”, reverse “Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith".
