Description

MS64 | Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half Sovereign, 1887, Jubilee type crowned bust left, J.E.B. initials on truncation for engraver Joseph Edgar Boehm, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, date below either side of bottom of frame, legend commences lower left with toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: edge milled, 4.00g (DISH L508; Marsh 478A; S.3869). Excellent example with proof-like finish, strong eye appeal, graded by NGC as MS64.

NGC Certification 6321646-001.

Calendar Year Mintage 872,567.

The Latin legend on obverse translates as “Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith.”
