Description

Charles I (1625-49), silver Shilling, Tower mint under the King, Group F, type 4.4, initial mark triangle-in-circle both sides (1641-3), sixth large ‘Briot’s’ bust left, value behind, CAROLVS. D. G. MAG. BRI. FRA. ET. HI. REX., rev. square-topped shield over cross moline, CHRISTO AVISPICE REGNO, 5.96g (N.2231; S.2799). Residual lustre, weakly-struck on a crude flan as is typical for this issue, otherwise a bold very fine with an excellent portrait.
