William I (1066-87), silver Penny, profile right type (c.1080-83), Oxford Mint, Moneyer Hargod, crowned bust to edge of coin in profile right holding fleured sceptre, Latin legend commencing lower left with inner linear and outer beaded circles surrounding both sides, +PILLELMI R, rev. annulet at centre of cross pattée, pellet stalked trefoils in each angle from linear rim surrounding, outer legend and beaded border surrounding, +HIIRGOD ON OXSN, 1.33g (BMC type VII - 468; N.847; S.1256). Toned, well struck with just a few light hairlines, an excellent portrait, good very fine.
